Toy Soldiers take over Estate
Paul Matthews of Jet Aire’s North East department was recently asked to visit a large housing estate in Washington to come up with a solution for problematic gullies that had becomes blocked over the years.
The problem was on Collingwood Court Estate in Sulgrave which is one of the largest estates of its kind in the UK, having been built in the 1970’s. Paul Matthews, Business Development Manager for the North East, explains the story.
“I was asked to visit a large housing estate in Washington to come up with a solution for problematic gullies that had becomes blocked over the years.”
Paul, having lived in London explains that this was a strange situation for him: “It was quite strange to see an estate like this in the North East; I’m from London where they are quite common place so I guess they came to the right person!”
Paul continued to explain the situation saying: “The gullies basically run through the fabric of the building, eventually connecting to an internalised Stack/ Soil Vent Pipe. This makes cleaning difficult without fully dismantling the pipework and normal ‘jetting’ reasonably out of the question (due to the risk of flooding someone’s home).”
A solution then had to be decided and Paul and the rest of the Jet Aire team came up with a few ideas to which the best one was used: Paul came up with the solution of using a mechanically driven flexible rod, which is generally known as a ‘snake’; different attachments can be fitted including spirals for retrieval.
The Jet Aire engineers Kirk and James made a sterling job and over the course of three patient hours cleared silt and debris and even retrieved a toy soldier boot! Finally the system was water tested and the system left free flowing; another satisfied customer for Jet Aire Drain Care.
This is just one of many examples where Jet Aire go above and beyond the call of duty for our drainage customers based in Leeds and the North East. If you require a domestic or commercial drainage services please call our offices today.
