Woody is all set for gruelling charity challenge in aid of Childrens Heart Surgery Fund!

A senior member of the Jet Aire Services team will be showing some pedal power later this month as he tackles a gruelling coast-to-coast cycle ride for a great cause.

Woody, our Operations Manager from our Leeds HQ, will be cycling from Morecambe to Bridlington to raise funds for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, Jet Aire’s nominated charity.

The company chose to back the charity because our drainage engineer Chris Beckett and his partner Laura have had some amazing backing from CHSF after their son James was born six weeks prematurely weighing just 4lbs 13oz with serious heart issues.

His condition was quickly diagnosed as being Truncus Arteriosus and within the first few days of his life, James underwent lifesaving open heart surgery and has since had two more similar procedures and will face more as he gets older.

Woody works closely with Chris and had no hesitation in linking his challenge with the charity.

He said: “The route in total is 170 miles, and the aim is to do it in one day, so it is a huge challenge both physically and mentally.

“I’m covering the costs of the fuel for the support vehicle that will take me to Morecambe and pick me up in Bridlington and meeting me at points throughout the day.

“I’m looking to raise as much as I possibly can as I know just how vital the charity is with the support it offers to families like Chris, Laura and young James.

“I would also like to thank @yorkcycleworks, Fraz, Jon and the team who have helped me out over the last few years with their skills and knowledge and they’ve given me a lot of support for the Coast-to-Coast.”

Woody will tackle the challenge on Thursday, June 23, and donations can be made via his Just Giving page below.
